Our promise to you is to never compromise quality, business ethics, reputation, or service. At Sustainable Lumber we combine sustainable wood, artisan quality, mill direct sales, & Montana integrity. Our company is like family; we look after each other, we work hard & play hard. We're not in business to get rich, we're in business to make an honest living and be good stewards of our natural resources. Sustainable Lumber Co. is situated within the pristine mountains of Montana. Well known for artisan craftsmanship our millwork plant is located within a small rural Mennonite community.
We know every board, personally. Artisan style craftsmanship goes into every handcrafted floor and wall we produce. Every board is personally handled up to 12 times allowing the opportunity to check quality and detail at every step. Once kiln dried to 6% moisture content, rough blanks are individually selected for grade, character, and color. Only the highest quality wood is used for our product lines, all seconds are donated to nonprofit organizations. Our pre-finished flooring and wall paneling is hand rubbed and hand sanded producing an artisan style appearance.
Thousands of miles of Oak fencing in Kentucky surround some of the most renowned thoroughbred horse farms in the world. Straight from the horse capital of the world, these famous Oak fences are salvaged and recycled into reclaimed Oak planks; great for walls, ceilings, and crafts. Whiskey barrels are stored on wooden "ricks" inside massive warehouses called a rackhouse. Straight from the Heart of Bourbon Country, these reclaimed hardwood warehouses and barns receive a new life as our Distillery Wood Wall Planks.
The best Beetle Killed Pine on the market, guaranteed!

It's a beautiful sunny day here in Western Montana. It was 20 degrees below zero two weeks ago, now we're supposed to hit 60 degrees this week! 80 degree change in 2 weeks, maybe that's why our wood is a little tougher than everyone else's 😉
