Company History: Surfaces By Design is new only in name. Surfaces By Design combines the strengths of Tile & Stone Company, Lake Superior Stoneworks, and Carpets Plus Color Tile, with a cumulative 40 years in business. We have expert staff providing top quality service, in a brand new expanded showroom. Tile & Stone Company evolved from a Franchise start up in 1992 called The Tile Shop, located at 1731 Miller Trunk Highway in Duluth, MN. We boasted "We Tile The Northland", and we did. From Ely to Hinckley, Grand Rapids to Ashland, the North Shore, the Iron Range, upper Wisconsin lakes area, and locally in Duluth, Cloquet, Hermantown, and Superior.

Surfaces by design are proud to offer one of the best cabinet lines in the U.S.A., Holiday Kitchens from Rice Lake, Wisconsin. This line is fully custom if that what the project requires or semi-custom for a more traditional project. Do you like the "Euro" look? Holiday manufactures the finest frame-less cabinets in all North America. At Surfaces by Design we offer full service design and installation. Our professional installers are familiar with the cabinet line and local contractors have wisely chosen cabinets from Holiday.

Surfaces by Design offer floor coverings comprising the full spectrum of product choices. We have broadloom, carpet tiles and area rugs on the soft side, wood, and tile, laminate and resilient on the hard side. Do you need your floor covering installed? We can do it. Are you a DIY individual with technical questions? We can assist. Is the environmental impact of your project a concern? We have a massive selection of "Eco-friendly" products to allay your concerns. We even recycle your old carpet and pad.

Surfaces by Design own and operate their very own Granite fabrication facility. We have hands-on control from design to installation. The extensive varieties of stones quarried from around the world adorn the walls of our showroom.
