Keep your tile and stone flooring clean by daily sweeping, dusting, or vacuuming to clear away dirt, sand, and grime and keep the surface looking polished. You should also wet mop at least once a week with a manufacturer-approved cleaner that is also compatible with grout. For common household spills and messes like milk, beer, soda, and pet accidents, immediately wipe away or mop clean. Tile and stone flooring surfaces can also get very slippery when wet, so it's important to keep your tile and stone flooring as dry as possible.

Sweep, dry mop, and vacuum your vinyl flooring frequently (but be sure not to use a beater bar when vacuuming, as this can scuff your flooring). If your flooring ever needs a deeper clean, use a manufacturer-approved cleaning solution. Use entry mats to keep dirt off of your flooring, and consider placing heavy furniture on protective mats. Vinyl is one of the simplest flooring solutions when it comes to dealing with messes. In most cases, all you need to do is mop up any spills or use a cloth. If your floors are sticky, you can follow up with a manufacturer-approved floor cleaner.

Installing tile or stone as a DIY project is possible, but we highly recommend hiring a professional to do the job. That's because tile and stone installations can be very complex and labor intensive, requiring specialized tools and materials. If you trust us with your tile installation, we'll make sure the job is done efficiently! We'll first send out a professional to measure the room or rooms, check if there's anything that might impact the installation, and then determine how much tile is needed for the job.

Establish a preventative maintenance routine for your carpet that works with your lifestyle and existing cleaning schedule. Start by removing outdoor shoes before walking across your carpet so you don't track dirt inside the house, and use a good quality carpet pad for additional support. For most of our products, daily to weekly vacuuming with a manufacturer-approved appliance is really all you need to keep your carpets looking and feeling great! Throughout the year, we suggest either an occasional professional cleaning or a DIY shampoo at home (the latter ONLY if recommended in your carpet manufacturer's guidelines).

Before your vinyl can be installed, you'll need to remove your old flooring and make sure your subfloor is prepared. You can contact us for more information on this. Once your substrate is ready to go, your luxury vinyl floor will be installed. Vinyl can be installed with one of three different techniques: full spread, perimeter-adhered, or floating installation. With full spread installation, installers apply adhesive to the entire substrate. With perimeter-adhered installation, the adhesive is only applied to seams and perimeters of the vinyl flooring.

Preventative maintenance will keep your rug looking and feeling great for years to come. Start by making sure family members and guests alike remove their shoes before walking across your area rug. You may also consider getting doormats to trap dirt in advance. You should regularly vacuum your area rug to remove all of the dirt, dust, and allergens from its fibers. We also recommend the occasional professional cleaning or shampooing your rug. Don't dry clean rugs or use bleach on them! No matter how careful you are, your area rug will probably fall victim to stains or spills, especially if you have kids or pets.

When it comes to hardwood installation, trust the pros at Kopp's Carpet & Decorating! Our knowledgeable and experienced installation experts have the skills, tools, and know-how to get the job done right the first time. Learn more about the installation process below. An adult member of your household (age 18 or older) should greet the installation crew upon arrival and show them to the work area. You should receive a walkthrough of the job from the lead installer and ask any questions you have.

First, invest in floor protectors for use with furniture. This will prevent denting and scratching. Next, buy some entry mats so mud and stones stay off of your flooring. You'll also need to make it a habit to trim pets' nails so that they do not scratch your flooring. It's also a good idea to use a humidifier and a dehumidifier as needed, as hardwood is sensitive to your home's climate. Finally, you should consider using an area rug for extra protection where needed. Everyday care and maintenance should include sweeping, vacuuming, and dry mopping.

Strategically place doormats at the entry to the rooms to capture any dirt or debris before it is tracked onto your floor. Also, protect your floor form indentations by placing floor protectors under heavy furniture and appliances. Avoid dragging anything across the floor that will scratch or damage the laminate. Most messes can simply be wiped away with a damp cloth. Spills should be wiped up quickly, as you don't want your flooring to become slippery. When it comes to difficult stains such as candle wax and chewing gum or oil-based stains like lipstick and olive oil, consult with the manufacturer's guidelines for cleaning these types of messes.

Once you've selected the perfect carpet for your home, you will be eagerly awaiting installation day! While you can choose to install it yourself, we highly recommend trusting a professional team to get the job done efficiently. If you have the experience and the know-how, carpet installation is certainly something you can tackle on your own. However, there are some downsides to DIY carpet installation. For starters, you'll need to check with your retailer and possibly the manufacturer to make sure the carpet is covered under warranty for a home installation.

Tile is a beloved flooring solution, popular in bathrooms & kitchens because of its clean look & resistance to moisture. Don't feel limited to just those areas of your home, however! Tile, whether natural stone or ceramic, is absolutely beautiful in any room or outdoor area. Tile is extremely durable and easy to maintain. It can be used in homes, offices, restaurants, and retail spaces. Tile comes in various colors and designs and can be made from materials such as limestone, granite, porcelain, and glass.

Vinyl is the perfect choice for busy families who don't want to sacrifice style and visual appeal for easy maintenance and affordability. Its durability is unmatched, and there are thousands of styles to choose from-whether you want wood looks, stone looks, porcelain looks, or anything else! When discussing vinyl, two main types are mentioned: luxury vinyl plank and luxury vinyl tile. LVP more closely mimics the look of genuine hardwood planks and can include embossed or hand-scraped texturing. LVT, on the other hand, resembles stone or ceramic tile instead.

Laminate flooring is highly functional, aesthetically pleasing, and very durable. It is manufactured to mimic the look of wood, stone, and ceramic by fusing layers of wood-based materials together. There are four main layers: a surface wear layer, a photographic design of wood or stone, a core layer for added strength, and a backing layer for moisture protection and additional stability. Looking for flooring that resembles the look of wood or stone without the high price tag or maintenance? Laminate flooring is the solution for you!

Area rugs are beautiful and add a pop of color, but they do so much more than that. A simple area rug can define any space and make a smaller room look bigger. They also add a cozy element to living rooms and dining rooms. You also have flexibility when it comes to placement, and there are so many sizes and designs available. Area rugs aren't just aesthetically pleasing. They're functional, too! With the right rug pad, area rugs protect hard-surface flooring from heavy traffic and furniture. They can also be used to hide any minor imperfections on your existing carpet or floor.
