A concrete overlay is a durable, ultra strong cement based product that can be thinly applied over concrete, laminate, plywood or tile to resurface and color existing horizontal or vertical surfaces. Concrete overlay main material is Portland cement so it's basic colors are white and gray. You can add concrete pigments when mixing the overlay and create over a 100 different concrete colors. The process of adding pigment to concrete is called integrally coloring concrete. Concrete overlays are ultra-strong and durable so you can apply from 1/16th inch to 1/4 inch of overlay to the surface to be refinished.

Sealing your stained concrete project is crucial to ensuring the longevity, quality, and craftsmanship of your work. It might seem like an extra, unnecessary step, but sealing colored concrete is too often overlooked. Simply choosing the wrong concrete sealer for your project can be disastrous for your indoor or outdoor project. Concrete sealers are not one size fits all. There are a few factors that go into choosing which sealer is right for your project. To help you make that choice, we have put together a brief guide on which concrete sealer to use for any indoor or outdoor concrete coloring project.

Concrete dyes are a great way to color existing slabs of concrete and offer a wide range of color options. Colors can be used to cover previous dyes or concrete stains, or to create something entirely new. Concrete dyes can be used to create a multi-dimensional polished concrete look or to apply solid colors to concrete surfaces. Film-forming stains simply coat or lay on top of a cement based surface to add color to a concrete floor or countertop. Unlike other concrete stains and dyes, there is no need to seal film-forming concrete stains.

Sometimes, you just need to try before you buy. With Direct Colors' DIY Concrete Pigment Color Trial Kits, you can do just that. Try your stain in different shades, with different sealer finishes as you test your integrally colored concrete. If you're wondering what everything in the kit is for, we've got you covered. In this brief guide, we'll go through the steps to using our Concrete Pigment Trial Kit, and when each of the included products are to be used. Let's get started. Direct Colors' Concrete Pigment is used to integrally color mixed concrete, overlay, stucco, plaster, mortar, grout, and other concrete-based materials.
