Reclaimed timber comes in a variety of conditions. A lot of time is invested pulling nails, unfastening bolts, removing brackets, trimming out breaks and sorting wood for grade. Pieces are individually selected for each order. We can brighten the finish on an "old patina" piece in varying degrees leaving as much or little of the old look as you wish - sometimes we sand down to fresh wood. We can also sculpt the timbers making an undulating surface and easing edges for a soft look. First three photos are of the re-sawing process, top left photo is old patina before re-sawing.

You can see big timbers such as the 12"x24"s from Port of Stockton and 6"x12"s from Mare Island Naval Shipyard used as rafters. Mare Island was also the source of the 1"x8" and 1"x18" paneling used in the walls and ceilings.
There is no warmer building material than wood. A fresh-milled or antique wood mantel piece can bring together any living space. We regularly have mantels made from Cedar, Oak, Redwood, Douglas Fir, and local salvaged Pines, plus a limited supply of tropical Indonesian Mahogany and Tigerwood salvaged from monsoon blowdown. We can now custom cut slabs up to 34 wide, and have even wider pieces available in our inventory.
