The highlight of this small patio is the curved freestanding bench, which is a focal point in its own right, but is critical for defining this living space, making it a true "outdoor room". The plantings behind it will really dress it up, something not yet apparent from this photo taken the day it was installed. These pavers are what I call faux flagstone. It's a nice look if you want the irregular pattern of flagstone without the high cost. This patio is elevated and bordered by a low wall not because that was the desired look, but because it was necessary to keep it on grade with the existing concrete walkway.
