The Albright-Knox's Elmwood Avenue campus is situated at the edge of Buffalo's Delaware Park, designed by America's foremost landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmsted. Its main buildings-one neoclassical and one modern-were designed by celebrated American architects Edward B. Green, of Green & Wicks, and Gordon Bunshaft, of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. A third building, Clifton Hall, houses staff offices. The museum's Elmwood Avenue campus is temporarily closed for construction as part for our AK360 Campus Development and Expansion Project.

In late 2019, Albright-Knox leaders and elected officials broke ground on the AK360 Campus Development and Expansion Project. Our construction manager, Gilbane Building Company, has completed mass excavation and begun concrete foundation work for the new building. The new Buffalo AKG Art Museum is expected to open in 2022 on the Elmwood Avenue campus. OMA in collaboration with Cooper Robertson, led by OMA North America Partner Shohei Shigematsu, are partnering with the museum and our community to develop a vision for the new Buffalo AKG Art Museum.

Rocking the Knox SUCKED. From the beginning with the way the line was handled (earlier arrivals had to go to the end of the line while later arrivals just walked past the line and directly in). The food/drink ticket sales were quick but you could not spend them with over 30 minute lines. Too many tents in the line of sight instead of on the peripheral. Smoking. 103.3 staff smoking cigars. Beck was a primadonna and waited over an hour after opening band to start the show so only three songs before the thunderstorm which even the weather teams predicted. Over all shitshow.

I was so very pleased and inspired with the Radical Women exhibit. The breadth of black women artist exhibited was enough to propel me to return and further research this time period and compare how they might have been influenced by mainstream in art. It was a delight to see Betty and Alison Sayers and Elizabeth Carlette and Faithringolds pieces my long time favorites. And to become acquainted with many of the other artist of that time period. I plan to return and bring lots of younger black women to see this exhibit. What a wonderful jewel of an exhibit. The atmosphere was welcoming and because of the radical women exhibit I felt included. Thankyou so much Albright for lifting this time period for people to see and observe and be inspired. I also enjoyed the Conrad exhibit. Best, Renee Brown

For contemporary art, this is a fantastic experience. Beautiful venue in a great area of Buffalo. World class art including Picasso, Jackson Pollock amongst others. Free audio recorders for temporary installations, and very affordable entry-fee with parking included. On a weekday it is not busy, and there is plenty of space between the art. Make sure to allow yourself 2-3 hours!
