January 2002, McGowan Painting Contractors of Greenville, NC opened for business providing painting services to clients in the residential, commercial and industrial markets. McGowan's market area then encompassed Eastern North Carolina. Joel Bunch, Senior estimator and Russell Summerfield, Senior project manager, former employees of a regional well-established commercial and industrial painting firm joined Bob McGowan in this quest. Bob concurrently continued to operate a similar business in Charlotte for many years.
