Advantage Painting was opened for business in 2009 by owner Matt Goetz, a former union painter. In 2003, Matt joined the Chicago Painters Union as an apprentice, and completed the three year apprenticeship program at J.A.T.C. trade school in Berkley, IL, where he obtained his journeyman card. In the painters union, Matt worked for a large residential painting contractor for many years. But in 2008, his employer went out of business and Matt went into business for himself one year later.
