Bet it will be decorated beautifully for the holidays, as the decorations were just going upon 11/6/18. It was an amazing place to visit, and one that was on my bucket list, as I always thought I was born 150 years to late. The art work, no matter what medium was used, all had a story to tell. The detailing of the tooling of the saddles and silver. Spent 7 hours there, and truely enjoyed myself. Think my favorite place was the garden, it was a beautiful day, and had an aura of peace and tranquility. Some of the displays put you in the moment, especially if you were into history. My favorites were the western town, cowboy lifestyle, and Calvary. The staff was excellent and very knowledge. You can bet I will go back again, if I am ever in the area. There were many peices of art I would be proud to own, if it is in the stars and I have a windfall of $. Take the time to visit if you are in the area, even if you just spend time viewing your favorite areas. Admission fee is very reasonable, and discounts are applied. Thank you to all the staff and others who make this place a reality.

This Museum is so amazing! From the changing Western Heritage artwork to the many areas that display how the me., women and children lived in the Old West! I loved the semi-life size set of an old Western town. It had a school, a hotel, telegraph office, saloon, jaillivery stables and even a physicians office. This is a MUST see for anyone heading to OKC. We even were able to grab a bite for lunch when we were done and although the menu is short, the freshness of the food was wonderful! Thank you to the benefactors who had the vision to put this together! I will go again if I'm ever in OKC.

I have loved this place since it was opened. I visit every time I return to Oklahoma, which isn't often enough. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The art exhibits are amazing and, of course, all the "Cowboy Stuff" just keeps getting better and better. As someone whose Grandfather & Great Grandfather we're real "Boomers" and were in Oklahoma from the start this has a special place in my heart.

What's new?

Also in “Blazing a Trail” you can see the Sacagawea Dollar designed by Glenna Goodacre. A pretty great tribute by an award-winning Prix de West artist. #HashtagTheCowbo y Thanks, Tim

This is “Sacagawea, Second Working Model for a Monument” from 1977 in our “Blazing a Trail” exhibition by Harry Jackson. Did you know that she was only 16 when she guided Lewis & Clark on the expedition west? 16! #HashtagTheCowbo y Thanks, Tim

Morning! This is Henry Lion’s “Lewis & Clark with Sacagawea” from 1943. Looks like she's pointing the way to my Arbuckles, but most likely she's pointing to Oregon. Lol! #HashtagTheCowbo y Thanks, Tim

This is Mabel Ping-Hua Lee. This photo from 1937 is part of our “Blazing a Trail” exhibition about women’s suffrage. She fought for women’s voting rights in the early 1900s when she couldn’t even become a citizen because of the Chinese Exclusion Act. #HashtagTheCowbo y Thanks, Tim

Here are photos of Lois Smoky Kaulaity from 1907, 1920, 1926 in our “Find Her West” exhibition. Her Kiowa name Bou-ge-Tah means “Coming of the Dawn.” She studied art at the University of Oklahoma. Some amazing Western women you can learn about here. #HashtagTheCowbo y Thanks, Tim
