Personalized art adventures geared to your skill level and time schedule. Art Classes and Workshops focus on the beauty of the Southwest landscape from canyon sunsets to adobe architecture. We offer classes for family reunions, children, as well as individual and studio classes focusing on a variety of media. Art and Creativity workshops for meetings and seminars can be arranged. Workshops in Art Therapy with a focus on nature and the creative process are also available. Melanie was from a major corporation in Albuquerque.

I started Art Adventures in the Southwest in the mid 90's. For many art lovers, the length of stay in Santa Fe is 3 to 5 days. Although there were and are five day art workshops being offered, these did not allow enough time for a visitor to do anything else while visiting our beautiful state capital. So I decided I would teach half day classes with all the art materials supplied. My slogan was, "Just Bring Yourself." I work with pastel, which is beautifully vivid, has no drying time and is easily transportable, so the media I loved was a natural for outdoor art classes.

With the repetitive structure of the grid as a basis, participants will create a series of images in response to a psychologically and/or culturally significant photo. Including "cultural" issues in this workshop is an addition as of 2018. This is in response to the major upheavals we have experienced related to immigration, funding for services, etc. As the image is repeated, perceptions and visual boundaries shift. A variety of media will be offered for this evocative and creative investigation of how memory and imagination alter perception and imagery.
