Susan Tucker's 100-year-old home sometimes seemed a bit uninviting. The kitchen was dark and cold, the countertop and storage space all but absent, the bathrooms cramped and unwelcoming. When Design Times Inc. began renovating, Susan had to admit to herself that she didn't have high hopes that anyone could make the house a place she wanted to stay very long. Susan now finds her newly remodeled kitchen and bathrooms so inviting that she expects "the restaurants in Denver are probably now suffering from our lack of patronage!"
Education is essential to good design. Knowing products and understanding how things work together lead to better design. The more I know about products and services and my client, the more I can create the space that they want. That's really what I'm doing-creating space for them to function in, rejuvenate in. Design Times president Klaudia Spivey recognizes the importance of education-and has had her fair share of it. An interior designer by degree, Klaudia's continuing education with the National Kitchen And Bath Association (NKBA) has gone beyond the basics, recently focusing on more advanced kitchen art and kitchen master classes.
Klaudia had the vision of what we wanted after several meetings with us, looking through magazines and surveys, and was able to guide us with her creativity and practical sense. After only a few conversations, she knew that I was the kind of person that reads cookbooks in my spare time and she was absolutely right.
