One in five families in Whatcom County lives in poverty. This number is on the rise due to our area's population growth and other economic pressures. Habitat for Humanity in Whatcom County is committed to combating poverty and inadequate housing through home ownership. Habitat works with individuals, churches, community groups, businesses, and organizations to build homes for families in need. It takes more than labor to build a house. For every home we build in Whatcom County, Habitat must raise $150,000 to pay for land and building materials.
