Boiler Service

Homeowners in the Springfield area need as much heating power as possible to make it through New England winters, and when it comes to sheer heating power, you can't beat a boiler. In addition to being the highest-capacity heating systems on the market, boilers are easily the longest-lasting. A good boiler can heat your home for 30 years or more - as long as it's properly maintained. That's where we come in. At Hurley & David, we've been servicing boilers all over Western Massachusetts for over 50 years, and we know all makes and models inside and out.

Furnace Service

Furnaces are the heating systems of choice for many Western Massachusetts homeowners, as they provide efficient, reliable heating even on very cold days. Like all machines, though, furnaces do break down on occasion, and because they serve such an essential function, those issues can quickly become big problems. If you're running into issues with your furnace, you'll need to have it professionally serviced as soon as possible. Sometimes, furnace problems are obvious: if your furnace won't start, it needs to be fixed or replaced.

Air Conditioning

Few things can improve your quality of life quite like relaxing in the cool comfort of an air-conditioned home. Central air is an absolute lifesaver in the middle of a July heat wave, of course, but the benefits of great climate control go beyond cooling. A good air conditioner will keep air circulating in your home and help everyone breathe easier, not to mention cutting down on humidity and reducing fire hazards. Moreover, with a top-notch air conditioner, you can save money on utility bills and increase the value of your home.

Insulation

Here in the Springfield area, we work on a lot of older homes, and one thing almost all of them have in common is a lack of proper insulation. Indeed, many old houses have no insulation at all in critical wall and ceiling areas. With nothing to keep heat in or out of the home, it becomes very difficult for your climate control systems to maintain a comfortable temperature, leading to increased energy usage and elevated wear and tear on your HVAC equipment. However you look at it, it's a waste of money.

Replacement Boiler

Boilers are designed to give you efficient heating over the long haul, but no system lasts forever. Eventually, your boiler will need to be replaced, and when that happens, our technicians have the skills and equipment needed to get the job done. We'll help you assess your home's heating needs and find the right boiler to meet those needs. Like all machines, boilers have a useful lifespan, which tends to be around 30 years. If you have an older home with an older boiler, it may be time to push for replacement just because of normal wear and tear.

Heating

In the greater Springfield area, it's a given that you'll have to deal with winter chills; the only question is just how cold each winter will get. Fortunately, all you need to stay warm and comfortable no matter how cold the weather gets is a reliable heating system. When your furnace or boiler is running well, it's easy to take it for granted, but that can change in a hurry when it shuts down in mid-January. To keep your home and family safe and warm, you'll need to invest in professional heating service.

Indoor Air Quality iaq

At Hurley and David, our top priority is always to help you breathe easily, and that applies to the quality of air in your home as well as the temperature. Maintaining good air quality in your home will improve health and comfort for everyone who lives there, especially residents with asthma or respiratory allergies. We have all of the IAQ products and services you need to keep the air you breathe clean year-in and year-out. Over the past several decades, the HVAC industry has created a number of products to help improve the quality of air in your home.

Commercial Heating

Let's say you own a bustling 24-hour diner, your friend has a tiny boutique, and your neighbor runs a private medical practice. Your commercial heating needs are all quite different. Your restaurant requires 24 hours of constant temperature maintenance that can also handle the heat generated from a busy kitchen. Your friend's boutique can lower the heat when she goes home at night. And your neighbor's medical practice requires specially zoned commercial heating that allows for comfort in the waiting room with a precise temperature in the lab.

Plumbing

Servicing and installing water-based heating systems, such as boilers or hydronic radiant systems, has always been part of how Hurley & David has served Western Mass homes - so plumbing has always been among our services. Today, we offer full service plumbing for any system throughout your home as part of our commitment to your total home comfort. So whether it is as small as a leaky faucet or a toilet repair, as comprehensive as engineering and installing a radiant floor into your new addition, or as specialized as installing a whole-home water purification system, you can turn to us when you need an expert plumber.

Windows And Doors

There are plenty of contributing factors when it comes to energy efficiency, and it is likely no surprise to you that windows and doors are particularly important. After all, doors and windows open and shut. Since they're meant to be moved, there are always ways for air to sneak around them. That being said, picking out the right doors and windows for your room is about more than just efficiency, as they play a big role in your home's appearance as well. The absolute ideal is to find doors and windows that look good and help you save energy as well.

Duct Sealing

If your home uses a forced-air system such as a central air conditioner or furnace, you're using ducts to stay comfortable - and you're probably wasting money. After all, the average system loses 30 percent of conditioned air to leaks in the ducts where it runs through small spaces between walls or in attic spaces. Those leaks not only inflate your energy bills, they also put added wear and tear on your system. By far the most accurate and efficient method of duct sealing is the Aeroseal system, of which Hurley & David is the exclusive provider in the region.

Water Heaters

In most homes, the number one and two energy expenses are heating and cooling the air. Coming in at number three is heating water. Regardless of energy source, your water heater accounts for significant energy usage in your house, and that means it's a prime opportunity for you to cut your energy usage and save money - without compromising comfort. Most water heaters in use today have tanks to store hot water; the tank itself represents a significant source of energy loss. This is known as standby heat loss.

Thermostats

One of the simplest ways to improve your home's energy performance is to make some adjustments to your thermostat. If your system cannot establish a comfortable environment without you setting the thermostat unusually high or low (depending on the season), it may be a sign your heating or cooling system is not performing properly. Another way to save is to adjust the thermostat to different temperatures at different times of the day. During the day when everyone is out of the house, there's no need to keep the AC on full blast.

Furnace Installation

Whether you need a brand-new system for a newly constructed home or want an upgrade over an aging furnace, you'll need help from your local furnace installation experts to get the job done. A new furnace is a major investment, designed to last you 20 years or more, and professional installation will help you make the most of that investment. At Hurley & David, we've been installing new furnaces throughout the Springfield area for over 50 years, and we have the tools and expertise needed to set up any home with highly efficient heating.

A heating tech named Zachary Williams came to my home today and gave my heating system a thorough maintenance check up. He was very professional and answered all of my questions. I would recommend this company and their service. The heating system they sold me last year has worked extremely well. I am very pleased. Thank you Hurley & David.

I have been a loyal customer for 10 years. I had a new unit installation that was inadequately installed initially and then took a while to correct. The heat in the winter was fine but staring the AC showed another “glitch”. Ultimately, Brian Dugle figured out a very small part was defective and once he did, my unit is perfectly fine. Brian is an outstanding, kind, honorable, knowledgeable and professional expert. The new company did their best to get things right but Brian Dugle is their gem and my godsend. Thanks a million Brian. I’m so grateful to him.

Jacob was very experienced technician. He was professional and went above and beyond to explain the situation. I am extremely happy with our two service calls withHD

Nathan did a fantastic job diagnosing a persistent problem with my boiler. It is now working to factory specs and I am delighted. I highly recommend Hurley & David and I will use them again for a future plumbing project.

Bill was professional, well-versed about my needs, kind and thoughtful. He worked quickly and efficiently and at the end I felt that I purchased the AC that would best fit my needs. It’s often overwhelming to make such a large purchase, but Bill walked me through the details and I am so grateful.
