Our General Contracting experience dates back to our establishment in 1879. During our first 100 years, we worked primarily as a General Contractor, self-performing a considerable amount of the work, including site, concrete, masonry, steel, along with both rough and finish carpentry. Although we now primarily work as a CM, subcontracting most of the work, we remain open to the general contracting approach when preferred by an owner. Current company principles date back to our general contracting days.
As a CM, we team with the owner, architect, and engineers to jointly deliver a quality project on or ahead of schedule and within budget. As a CM, we work openly, while believing transparency has been an important key to our success. Travis joined HPC in 2013. He graduated from Vermont Technical College with an Associate's Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering and a Bachelor's of Science in Construction Management. He drives an electric car to job sites, which has saved an estimated 950+ pounds of CO2 being dispersed into the atmosphere as of April 2017.
Our Green Building experience is extensive and dates back around 20 years with the construction of Vermont Law School's Oakes Hall, a new classroom building designed to conserve energy and reduce water use. We have completed several projects that have benefited from geothermal and solar energy components. During the past 20 years we have gained knowledge relative to building envelopes, such as thermal breaks, insulations and air barriers, all intended to improve performance while minimizing energy use.
