Family has remained our foundation as Kaplan Construction has grown and evolved since its founding 45 years ago. We celebrate the longevity in our core staff and have welcomed a second generation of dedicated employees to our company. Founded by Ken and Cathy Kaplan in 1976, Kaplan Construction is a WBE general contractor and construction management firm providing comprehensive building programs including preconstruction planning, construction management, design-build services, and general construction for commercial, healthcare, multi-family, worship, and institutional clients.

Definition of goals, good decision making and proper planning are the foundations for a successful project. It is during this early stage that we get a clear picture of our clients' needs, where mutual trust is established, and where collaboration begins. Our experienced preconstruction team identifies project challenges early on, delineating options, offering choices and integrating solutions to make the road ahead as smooth as possible. We start with the traditional method of building the project on paper.

Our most gratifying professional experiences occur when the project team is able to arrive at common goals early in the design process. We suggest the Construction Management at Risk (CMAR) format as the delivery system for these types of projects. With CMAR, Kaplan is selected as construction manager early in the design/construction process and sees the project through to completion on the client's behalf. Working with the design team, we gain a mutual understanding of the client's needs, expectations, and concerns.

We offer various formats of design/build to stay adaptable to the ever changing and specific needs of our clients. Our services range from partial collaboration (with a preselected architect, for example), to providing the full package deal that delivers our clients a turnkey product. By choice, we do not employ a registered architect or engineer within our own staff. Instead, we bid and hire design firms that best fit the unique needs of the project. Our experience, depth, and relationships within our industry ensure that an optimal team is assembled on our clients' behalf.
