In the past, people often hired a designer and a general contractor, a step that often added additional time and costs to a project. It also left clients trying to navigate between two parties, rather than working directly with one. The design/build route changes the traditional sequence of work, answering the client's wishes for a single-point person responsible for all work on the project.
