The highest rates of recycling and the lowest cost can be attained when you "source separate" materials at your job site. You can keep separate dumpsters for clean concrete, wood, metal, soil, etc. The Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) helps builders comply with California's CALGreen building requirements and meet the national LEED Building standards. We offer discounted rates for clean loads containing source separated wood, concrete, asphalt, or soil. We apologize for the inconvenience, but encourage you to continue collecting your recyclable bottles and cans and use your "curbside" recycling collection containers for recycling.

The Monterey Regional Waste Management District operates the Monterey Peninsula Landfill (MPL) and Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) on a 461 acre site in Marina. MPL is the location for regional disposal and the MRF provides processing of recyclables from commercial and self-hauled materials. Hazardous and other prohibited materials, as defined under California law and regulations, may not be disposed at the Monterey Peninsula Landfill or the Materials Recovery Facility. If hazardous materials are found in loads, the hauler is responsible for all costs associated with management of the hazardous material.
