Across today's campuses, learning is taking place everywhere on an ever-expanding basis. Having partnered with colleges and universities throughout the country, we believe that academic environments should offer a range of adaptable spaces-from private to collaborative to lab and incubator areas-that can accommodate students' diverse needs and learning styles. In addition, any intervention, whether a new building, renovation, or adaptive reuse project, must support the institution's cultural identity, integrate living and learning, provide sought-after social and amenity spaces, and reinforce notions of connectivity and community.
Today's mixed-use projects hold tremendous potential in the realm of placemaking and design. In this era of "18/7" do-everything environments where people live, work, shop, eat, and play, we carefully explore each project through the lenses of urban design, architecture, and interior design. We see the challenges of urban sites as chances for creative invention. Drawing on our affinity for interdisciplinary cooperation and clever design solutions, we create lively, beautiful, multi-functional developments that increase the connectivity, visibility, and value of dense urban places.
Environments for civic and cultural activities should naturally enrich and inspire the people they attract. Whether developing world-class exhibition space, restoring a landmark building, or updating a historic library with 21st-century technology, we approach each of these projects holistically. We explore the institution-what it is, who depends upon it, and what it endeavors to become-and devise a plan to underscore its strengths and realize organizational aspirations. We love the ways that architecture and design can bring enduring value to built civic environments and the communities they serve.
