Dining Room 1: My clients' cobalt and silver wedding china sparked the dining room colors scheme. The blue walls have are faux finished with stripes. The blue velvet damask host and hostess chairs contrast with the blue and white chenille guest chairs. Crystal accents include wall sconces, buffet lamps and candelabras. Living Room: Cranberry and apple green garland, ribbons and candles coordinate with the living room's color palette, and update traditional red and green decorations. Glints of gold shimmer in the light of the intricate wall sconces.

In this West Hartford, CT dining room update, our clients already owned the classic dining set and oriental rug, but they wanted to add some drama to the room. Playing off of a beautiful light aqua color woven into the rug, we ensconced the room in this peaceful hue. A gorgeous silk fabric embroidered with colorful oriental birds was selected for the goblet-pleated window treatments, which break gracefully onto the floor. Metallic gold and aqua wallpaper reflects light and adds an intriguing and unexpected element.

Foyer: The foyer was modernized by reworking the staircase. It originally had colonial-style spindles and light oak flooring and handrail. Changing the spindles to a more contemporary style and staining the stairs and handrail a deep brown updated and upgraded the look. The shimmery chandelier, contemporary mirror and demi-lune console complete the makeover. Kitchen 1: The decision to completely gut the kitchen led to a much more efficient layout with plenty of storage. Before commissioning the custom cabinetry, we did a complete inventory of the couple's storage needs, which is why you see more drawers than are found in standard kitchens.
