1974 Richard and Lea Covell opened Covell's Upholstery Shop in Amsterdam, New York. Richard is a 4th generation upholsterer in the Covell Family. He has a vast knowledge and passion for the upholstery craft and loves to give older pieces of furniture new life through reupholstery. 1976 We expanded our business, offering custom window treatments, custom bedding and wallpaper. 1989 We opened Covell's Furniture, specializing in medium to high end upholstered furniture and case goods. 2007 We moved the shop to Saratoga Springs, New York and became a Showcase Centurion dealer with Hunter Douglas - one of only 1,500 dealers in the country.
Quality construction, appropriate sizing, comfort and sentimental value are all elements that make a piece of furniture an excellent candidate for reupholstering. All the work is done right here in our own workshop and Rich is proud have you stop in to see what he does. Headboards and cornices are custom built by our meticulous carpenter according to our specifications. Your piece is then brought to life when Richard applies plush foams and paddings and of course, your fabric selections.
