We love Oxford Exchange! The menu - food and drinks - is very interesting, servings are huge, service is always efficient and friendly, and the ambiance is the best. This time we tried the brunch flatbread and the Cuban sandwich - both delish! We also had outstanding cocktails and I tried an affogatto for the first time - 2 shots of espresso over gelato; it was amazing! Full disclosure: it is pricey! For the two of us, brunch with cocktails runs between $75 and $100.
Aside from our lovely and very apologetic waiter, this was an epic fail on so many levels. Pretty ordinary afternoon tea - the cream for the scones was practically frozen solid, just like all the patrons in this far too over-air conditioned room, and it tasted sour. 20 minutes into our booking the servers moved our table to fit in another booking, next to us which was fine but we were squeezed up against an enormous potted plant and placed in an even draftier freezing spot of AC. We did request if they could turn the AC down as most of the other patrons were wearing jackets and hoodies, but it remained freezing and uncomfortable for the close to 1.5 hours we were there. The room was uncomfortably cold making the whole experience even more displeasurable. The servers sent our daughters food to the wrong table forcing us to ask multiple times where their food was and wait for ages for their food, whilst ours arrived to the table and we waited for them. The food was disappointingly ordinary- nothing great or spectacular. For $100 I expect more. I love a good high tea but this one was really poor. Never again.
Today was my first time here and the food was great! Chocolate chip pancakes were amazing (I couldn't finish them all) and the caramel latte I ordered was probably the best one I've ever had. Everything came quickly, correct and still hot. The atmosphere was bustling but unique and felt very inviting. The parking can be tricky if you're not lucky or wanting to drop money but I would definitely make a return trip here for food. Also, Killian (our server) was spot on!
