KTB Designs is a firm in Austin, Texas owned by native Austinite Kathy Troiano Borth, ASID, licensed and registered Interior Designer #474. In addition to design services Ms. Borth also offers various space planning, home move management and remodelling services. Please enjoy your visit to this site and do not hesitate to contact us if you would like more information on any of our products or services.
KTB Designs can provide space planning services to individuals who are overwhelmed at the thought of downsizing, organizing or moving. It is never too early to sort through the unused or excess items in a home. As advocates of efficient and organized homes we will patiently encourage decreasing the volume of items and organizing the items which are kept while maintaining a sense of humor. If you are contemplating building a new home for the "rest of your life, " please let the designer review the plans and make sure that the house has been planned for aging in place.
Ms. Borth has experience in many areas of both commercial and residential design but now focus's primarily on residential design: both remodels and new construction. Most projects are in Austin and the surrounding Hill country and Highland lakes area. Many projects are vacation or second homes in the lake area. To better serve these clients in the Lake LBJ area, we have an office in Sunrise Beach Texas which is one hour from Austin. The designer starts approximately 10 new projects per year and is involved in all aspects of the design from the initial consultation and review of architectural plans through the selection of all finishes and fixtures as required and into the final installation of furnishings, window coverings and artwork as required to complete the project.
I have been working for the last 4 months on the remodel of a home. The owners built this house 20 years ago and still loved it and the location but it was looking worn and in need of updating. The main change was that a new and well laid out kitchen was need. The existing kitchen was a U shape: very hard to work in and very hard when you have guests. At first glance it did not appear to be wide enough for an island but then upon seeing the size of the laundry room I realized I could build cabinetry in to the kitchen wall that would give me space for an island.
