In order to provide intermodal means of transportation and promote urban redevelopment, cities and towns are increasingly focused on improving their urban infrastructure. A major part of the efforts include improving curbs and sidewalks to support pedestrian traffic. Over the last 10 years, Certified Engineering has been involved in this effort by providing design services for several urban projects. From our experience, we've learned that curb and sidewalk projects often include historically sensitive areas that require special design considerations.

Whether your project involves complete site development, or improvements to existing infrastructure, we'll provide you with an accurate base from which to get started. Our vast experience in design and construction staking provides valuable insight toward topographic surveys. Our approach takes into account not only the critical elements that need consideration during the design phase, but a knowledge of construction practices and a commitment to working on a contractor's timetable. Additionally, our staff has the background and technology needed to bring an exceptional level of detail to any project in a timely manner.

Resurfacing and widening is quite often the solution to extending the life of existing infrastructure while getting the most out of your transportation budget. Certified Engineering has the experience necessary to identify and resolve those unforeseen drainage issues that quite often accompany this type of project. Even on the most basic of improvement projects, we are not only prepared for the unknown, but fully capable of handling whatever comes our way to make your project a success.

Certified Engineering brings experience to one of the most important places of all: home. To be precise, we've provided services to single- and multi-family developments alike, including the related infrastructure. As the economy creates ongoing shifts in the residential landscape, we provide the proven expertise that brings stability, confidence and savings to your projects. We have a track record of using foresight to avoid costly delays, plus a reputation for respecting your schedule. Our portfolio is deep.

According to the American Congress of Surveying and Mapping (ACSM), a land survey is: "The process of determining boundary lines between privately owned parcels of land." Though land surveying has developed into many aspects of mapping, engineering and construction, the land surveyor's unique function is still with the establishment and retracement of boundaries. Certified Engineering's staff possesses the knowledge and experience to deliver a high-quality survey. We have performed American Land Title Association (ALTA) and ACSM land title and boundary surveys for our clients for over 25 years.

As a full-service civil engineering firm, we provide professional capabilities to public and private entities alike. Having designed numerous commercial and residential sites throughout the years, our experience is extensive. Through the use of technologically advanced software to perform hydraulic analyses, as well as employing our streamlined process for preparing permit applications, we can expedite permit approvals and eliminate costly delays in construction.

Heading to work, to school or the store. The construction staking expertise we bring to transportation projects of all types not only helps your jobs flow quickly and easily. It keeps the world moving safely, efficiently and even enjoyably. From complex urban interstate interchanges, to rural roadways and intersections, our team is deeply experienced in gathering all the information and laying the groundwork for roadway construction and improvements.

Urban corridors present a unique set of challenges. Tightly condensed features create issues in construction, and having an experienced surveyor is key to project success. Even seemingly simple tasks, such as tying new drives, sidewalks and curbs into the existing features can present unforeseen complications. That's why our approach goes beyond performing layouts using office-provided staking sheets. Our team of surveyors takes to the field, and they have the natural ability to understand the plans in a way that provides the stakes needed to help the contractor make the project look good.

Certified Engineering provides valuable expertise that helps minimize negative impacts on our natural surroundings. In fact, as a company whose services affect the environment in very direct ways, we have the responsibility of working toward a safe, healthy planet for today and future generations. One issue we pay particular attention to is soil erosion, which is a prime pollutant to local streams and rivers. To help keep streams and rivers clean during and after construction, our plans always include proper erosion control measures.

When it comes to projects that require structural engineering expertise, we have extensive experience in designing large culverts, culvert headwalls, and a wide variety of retaining walls. Culverts designed by Certified Engineering include both three-sided structures on poured foundations, as well as four-sided concrete boxes. Many of these structures require special layout conjugations to fit within right-of-way constraints. We also give special consideration in designing headwalls for culverts due to outfall storm sewers and safety handrails being placed along the tops.
