Since the 1970s, when mid-century founder Glen Cline, FAIA, designed award-winning and internationally acclaimed elementary schools that significantly reduced energy use, CSHQA has been an innovator and practitioner of "green" design. CSHQA's original founder, William S. Campbell, studied architecture at the University of Edinburgh. In 1889 he made his way across the United States to Boise (in the then Idaho Territory) where he founded an architectural practice.
