South Mountain Company is a fully integrated architecture & engineering, interiors, building and renewable energy firm. That's what we do. But to us, how we do it is just as important. Residential, commercial, institutional, covering seasonal or year-round loads, on the roof, on the ground, over capped landfill arrays, over parking lots, EV charging, even energy storage - we do it all. In every town. We're well-versed in all permitting processes - local, utility, and state - and aim to provide you a seamless experience from contact to interconnection to lifelong monitoring and maintenance. Quality assurance is part of the deal. All our solar installations meet the stringent requirements for quality set forth by NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners).

Today's new buildings should still be here in the 22nd century because they are built to last and built to be loved (and therefore they will be maintained and protected over time). Buildings should work in every way: they should be beautiful, durable, healthy, comfortable, and less costly to operate and maintain. In most cases, they should produce more energy than they consume. While most in our industry do the minimum necessary to satisfy building codes, we invest thousands of hours each year to R&D, testing, and monitoring to learn how to make the best possible buildings for you.

Since 1998, SMCo has been providing complete interior design services. Uniting interior design with architecture and building leads to unusual levels of coherence and synchronicity. We handle all aspects of interior design and furnishing, and we provide custom furniture, lighting, and built-ins. SMCo Interiors was originally created by our COO Deirdre Bohan and is now led by Beth Kostman. Beth is an SMCo Owner, a licensed architect, and an interior designer who has been at SMCo since 2008. She is ably assisted by Jill Walsh, a superb colorist and all-around interior decorator who has been with us for many years.
