Starlight Llama Bed and Breakfast is Massachusetts' FIRST solar-powered, off-the-grid, bed and breakfast. Learn More About Us! Starlight Llama is the only local hotel, inn or B&B where you can get a cup of coffee, have breakfast with ingredients straight from the garden, watch a llama grazing outside your window, see a donkey take a dust bath, and charge your cell phone with solar power, all before 10 a.m.! During your stay, learn more about llamas or how the solar power works. Utilize our fantastic location as a base camp for enjoying Northampton or Berkshire sites.
Starlight Llama is an off-the-grid home meaning we are not connected to any electric company. We chose to "go solar" to make a positive difference for the environment and we opened this bed and breakfast to help share what we have learned and to show that solar living is simple. The decision to go solar was an easy choice for us. The cost of our solar array, batteries and inverter was comparable to the cost of an electric company hook up as we would have paid to bring in electrical poles or bury cables.
Yes, the pandemic is dragging on, but for those fortunate enough to work from home, it mandated solitude. For those artists and writers who used this time to focus and create new work, this time has been hard but productive. When you look back, will this have been a time of productivity?
How would Thoreau handle this pandemic? He would Stay HOME. He would Support policies to help those who have lost jobs. As a person who died from the uncurable respiratory disease of his era, he would have compassion for those caring for the sick. He may suggest: Be patient. Appreciate your solitude. Have gratitude. Go out and observe nature.
UMass event open to those at UMass and the 5 Colleges who want to Reclaim Their Creative Selves.
