Through REC's Net metering program member-owners can interconnect approved renewable generation systems to the power grid. Your renewable energy system, whether it is solar, wind or another generation source, will enable you to generate some of your own electricity to offset the power that you receive from REC. Every kilowatt hour you generate is a kilowatt hour you do not have to purchase. Renewable generation systems are connected on the member's side (the usage side) of the meter. The meter will rotate forward to measure electricity being used from the grid, and it will reverse when the customer generates excess electricity (thereby "exporting" electricity to the electric grid).

Here you aren't a customer - you're a Member-Owner. We'll work with you to ensure you receive the best service configuration for the least expensive rate. Simply fill out the form below describing your power needs to start the process. Or just give us a call. We'll work with our engineers to create a custom power solution for you to ensure you're ready to open your doors and pursue success. Let us re-evaluate your rates and your usage to ensure you are still receiving the best rate possible. If you're growing, we can calculate your new needs and make sure your power infrastructure is able to support you.

REC Electrical Services offers professional electrical work beyond the meter, that is, inside the customer's home. This includes service work, outages due to failure of customer-owned equipment and installation and troubleshooting of electrical circuits. Homeowners are purchasing portable generators in record numbers to power critical appliances such as furnaces, pumps and refrigerators during a power outage. That's why REC Electrical Services offers generator transfer switches that make it safe, quick and convenient to connect your portable generator to your home's electrical system.

REC works hard maintaining its rights of way near overhead lines to provide safe and reliable electrical service. Although REC would prefer that no trees are planted within our rights of way with overhead lines, or within ten feet of our underground transformers, you can help by using these guidelines when planting trees near overhead lines. Before you plant, call VA811,f ormerly Miss Utility at least three days in advance (not counting weekends and holidays) to have your underground utilities marked.

Students at Liberty Middle School in Hanover County sent us beautifully handcrafted Thank You cards following the work REC crews did following Winter Storm Tabitha in February.
