Shawn Means, long-time executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Kanawha & Putnam, has announced that he will retire in 2021. Shawn's last day with Habitat will be June 30, 2021 - 27 years to the day since he assumed the role of Executive Director. We hold a variety of events throughout the year to collect donations of furniture, tools, building materials, and household items. Each event supports the construction of homes for local Habitat partners.
The ReStore is a sustainable funding source created by Habitat for Humanity. Donated building materials and home items are re-sold at the ReStore to raise money for the construction of Habitat houses in Kanawha and Putnam counties. New, used and surplus materials are donated to the ReStore by individuals, contractors, businesses, retailers, manufacturers, and people like you!
Partnering with Habitat for Humanity for a decent, affordable home does not mean compromising on quality. All of the houses that we work with homebuyers to build meet all current building codes and some of the construction materials exceed those standards. Habitat houses are modestly sized. They are large enough for the homeowner family's needs but small enough to keep construction and maintenance costs affordable. Habitat uses quality, locally available building materials and our designs reflect the local climate and culture.
an awesome place to shop, volunteer to build, or for homeowner mastery classes for those in the program, or those in the community. go Habitat for Humanity!
