Broad River Electric Cooperative is one of 20 not-for-profits, member-owned electric co-ops in South Carolina. From our headquarters in Gaffney, SC, we serve Cherokee, Spartanburg, Union, and Newberry counties in South Carolina and portions of Cleveland, Polk, and Rutherford counties in North Carolina. Founded in 1940 to meet the needs of a small number of rural residents who needed electric service, we now have more than 18,500 business and residential member-owners and 2,600 miles of power line.
Broad River Electric Cooperative at all times tries to be mindful of our members' time while providing excellent service. While we provide electrical service, the application you complete will tell us more about what you need for electrical service to be turned on. If you are seeking new service on a newly constructed structure, including houses, workshops, and manufactured homes, you will need to complete two applications. The first application required is the Electrical Service Application and the New Service with Construction application.
March 5th is Employee Recognition Day. BREC would like to acknowledge ALL of our hardworking employees in EVERY department at Broad River Electric Co-op. We could not give the superior service we provide without all of us giving 100%. Thank you.
Save the date for our Annual Meeting with Drive Thru voting. Voting will be April 27th and 28th 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and April 29th 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Annual business meeting begins at 5:30 p.m with virtual simulcast, as last year. Don’t miss it.
