Our mission is to provide the highest quality of service to all of our members at a reasonable price. French Broad EMC is located in Western North Carolina and was formed in 1939. Since then, French Broad EMC has grown into a modern-day cooperative, with 19 substations, monitored via fiber optic cable, serving over 39,000 members in Madison County, Buncombe County, Yancey County and Mitchell County in North Carolina, as well as members in Unicoi County and Cocke County in Tennessee. Our web site is here to provide our membership with updated information about their electric service and a convenient method for contacting us.
French Broad EMC is excited to assist our members who want to supplement their inefficient heating and/or cooling system with a more efficient system. This Mini-Split Heat Pump program went into effect on August 1, 2013. The program allows members to borrow money from the Cooperative to install high efficiency mini-split heat pump units that can significantly reduce heating and cooling costs while also providing comfort in the areas in your home where you need it the most. In addition, we have added a Heat Pump Maintenance service for the thousands of FBEMC customers who have taken advantage of our Mini-Split installation program.

Here are some photos taken by our crews as they worked on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
FBEMC crews have been out all night restoring electrical service to our members who were without power last night due to the snow storm. Please remember these men this morning as they continue to work tirelessly to make sure every home has electricity. They have sacrificed their Christmas morning with their families to make sure everyone is warm and safe. We cannot thank them enough and pray that they will soon be able to return home safely.
Our crews have been dispatched to several outages including the areas around: Meadowfork, Wolf Creek, Lower Paint Rock, Grapevine Road, Lower Stackhouse, French Broad Crossing as well as smaller outages in Yancey and Mitchell Counties.
