Established as a community-owned utility in 1893, the underlying purpose of Holland Board of Public Works is to enrich the lives of customers in West Michigan's greater Holland area by providing reliable and economical electric, water and wastewater treatment services while maintaining environmental responsibility. Located on the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan, HBPW is located in one of Michigan's fastest growing industrial and residential areas providing service for 75,000 members of the community.

We serve water to the City of Holland. As a municipal water provider, HBPW maintains local control, low rates and high reliability. Local governance gives community citizens a direct voice in our decisions and policy-making. Holland Board of Public measures the reliability of our water service by tracking the number of water main breaks.

Holland Board of Public Works's Electrical Engineering Department and Water/Wastewater Engineering Department are available to support your construction project. Please contact us as early as possible during the planning of your project. Applications are required for new services. Our staff provides services to customers, contractors and field crews including assistance and planning for the installation of electric service to homes, commercial and industrial facilities, and community infrastructure.

Public Act 295 (PA295) was signed into Michigan law in October 2008, to promote the development of clean energy, renewable energy, and energy optimization (EO) through the implementation of a clean, renewable, and energy efficient standard.
