We're more than your average electric service provider. We are a public power utility - neighbors, family and friends doing what's best for our neighborhood. For over50 years, we've helped local businesses flourish by offering some of the nation's most reliable service and lowest rates. We take pride in having a reliability of service rating of 99.99 percent for more than 15 years in a row, and LES' commercial and industrial rates consistently rank among the most affordable in nationwide surveys.
Feb. 1, 1966, Lincoln Electric System was formed and a single utility began providing electric energy in and around Lincoln, Nebraska. In November 1970, Lincoln voters approved formation of a semi-autonomous administrative board of local citizens to oversee operations of the nonprofit, customer-owned utility. Today, LES services approximately 200 square miles within Lancaster County in Nebraska, comprising the cities of Lincoln, Prairie Home, Waverly, Walton, Cheney, and Emerald. Our goal is to provide you affordable and reliable electricity so you save even more and pay less for electricity available at the flip of a switch. View LES Official Statements and access LES bond disclosures available on the Electronic Municipal Market Access website, which is operated by the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board. By publicly posting the following written disclosure on its website, Lincoln Electric System intends that market participants receive and use it for purposes of the independent registered municipal advisor exemption to the Securities and Exchange Commission Municipal Advisor Rule.
One of the biggest rewards for an LES customer/owner is low rates. LES is one of the most efficient electric utilities in the country, so you enjoy some of the lowest electric rates around. Compared to most U.S. residents, you save hundreds - sometimes thousands - of dollars a year on electricity. LES' Service Regulations serve as a guide for LES and customer interactions on electric service. These service regulations may be revised, amended, superseded or repealed at any time by the LES Administrative Board.
Customers can enroll inpaperless billing through LES'online payment portal, and we're putting the savings gained from printing less to support our efforts to plant more trees and bring more solar energy to our community. No more misplacing your bill, no more paper waste and no more hassle. Paying yourbill is easier with online statements in our new payment portal, which delivers real-time notifications via text or email, better navigation and recurring payment options. A portion of the savings from paperless customers will help restore endangered tree populations in Lincoln's public parks.
