The Shade Shop opened its doors in 1918 in downtown Houston with the simple philosophy of providing high-quality roller shades and venetian blinds with exceptional customer service. Larry Sams, current owner of The Shade Shop and grandson of the original owner, began visiting his grandfather's store on weekends as a toddler. He entertained the seamstress in the workroom with his childish antics and watched as she turned simple fabric into handcrafted roller shades. Little did he know that he would one day own The Shade Shop and watch his own children grow from toddlers playing in the workroom into three of its integral employees.
