SunDanzer was founded by the leader of NASA's Advanced Technology Refrigeration Project with the goal of utilizing state-of-the-art technology for solving age-old earth-bound problems. Beginning in 1999, SunDanzer began an improbable journey of bringing real-world, sustainable solutions to off-grid refrigeration needs. The NASA technology translated into the world's first battery-free solar powered refrigerator, designed for small, off-grid consumers. Since that time, SunDanzer has expanded to offer an increasing array of products while maintaining our focus on refrigeration.

A zero-maintenance, brushless, thermostatically controlled DC compressor operates our 12 or 24 V DC refrigerator and freezer. A patented low-frost system reduces frost and moisture build up for low maintenance. High-quality construction provides excellent reliability and long life. Some models are available in 48VDC. Low energy consumption is the key that allows SunDanzer refrigerators and freezers to be cost effectively powered from solar, wind, fuel cells or batteries. This technology allows refrigeration in remote locations where it was previously unavailable or too costly.

SunDanzer's Commercial/Productive Use division focuses on providing cold storage through solar refrigeration for businesses selling or storing cold products. In developing countries, this broad range of use cases is often referred to as Productive Use applications, where solar refrigeration is being used to increase the incomes of farmers, fishers and business owners. Our Commercial/Productive Use products range in size from small solar milk cooling and solar fish cooling refrigerators to 20 and 40 ft.
