In Santa Clara, electricity is more than just a service. It powers innovation and shapes how we impact the world. As a communityowned electric utility, Silicon Valley Power has provided dependable electric service for over 120 years. Using energy expertise and local knowledge, we continue to serve our customers and help local businesses thrive. Silicon Valley Power is committed to Santa Clara businesses and residents. We are able to meet our customers' needs, offer low rates and provide innovative programs, like Santa Clara Green Power, to create an environment that fosters success.
Silicon Valley Power offers several programs to help make your home look better and run more efficiently. To qualify for these programs, you must be a resident of the City of Santa Clara and receive electricity from Silicon Valley Power. Residents of single-family or multi-family homes may be eligible to receive a rebate of $0.10 per square foot of attic space over conditioned space. Homes must have electric heat and multi-family homes must have separate attic space. Homes must have existing insulation less than R-19 insulating value and newly installed insulation must meet a minimum insulation value of R-38 or greater.
Residents who have a medical condition and/or are disabled must provide a physician's certification documenting the patient's medical needs and requirements for an electric device for treatment. Paraplegic, hemiplegic, or quadriplegic people qualify. Similarly, a scleroderma patient with special heating or cooling needs qualifies, as do residents who depend on life support. The discount will not apply toward any taxes, surcharges, or other non-electric utility charges that appear on the bill. Applicants who meet both the financial and medical eligibility criteria can only receive a twenty-five percent discount.
Silicon Valley Power's Annual Reporting of electric facility inspections completed for calendar year 2019 can be found below. Our inspection program is designed to comply with California Public Utilities Commission's (CPUC) General Order 165 and General Order 174 in order to promote a safe electric system.
