Affatato Paving is one of the oldest driveway contractors on Long Island. Having been in the driveway construction business for over 35 years, we have obtained the experience and knowledge to provide the highest quality driveway, mason work and sealcoat services to each of our customers. Although our company has grown beyond where we started many years ago, we still remain a family owned and operated business. In light of that, we attempt to treat every employee and each of our customers as though they are an extension of our own family.
We know you have a choice when choosing a contractor, so thank you for taking the time to get to know our family a little better. With over 30,000 driveways completed, we hope you choose to become part of our ever growing family!
Phase 2 is an optional phase of the driveway installation. During this phase, all mason work is installed on your driveway. Mason work can be done in Belgium Block or Brick Pavers. Mason work includes the border around the driveway, apron at the end of the driveway, walkway, stoop, patios, retaining walls, BBQ areas, and more. We are able to create a custom design depending on what your needs are for your driveway and backyard. Will I see concrete in the back of my blocks? Yes. The block must be supported from the back with concrete for strength.
We call Phase One of your driveway installation the Shape Phase because during this phase is when your new driveway begins to take shape! During this phase, we prepare the driveway to be paved which involves removing the existing driveway or surfaces in the design of your future driveway. Once the area is cleared, we lay down the base material, which consists of state approved crushed stone, concrete, and screening. Once we lay down the base material, it is left to settle for a few weeks. During this time, you are free to drive over it in order to help compact the base material.
Phase 3 is probably everyone's favorite part of the driveway installation process. Why, might you ask? Well, because it is almost complete! Phase 3 is the final step of your driveway installation. Your base material has now had enough time to settle and your mason work has been completed with enough time to dry. Although you do need to stay off your driveway with your vehicles for 7-10 days after it has been paved, your driveway makeover is just about complete! Can stones come loose from a new driveway?
