Tri-state Concrete Scanning located in Washington DC Metro area, serving Maryland, Virginia and DC, utilizes ground penetrating radar or GPR to see through asphalt and concrete structures and detect subsurface objects such as rebar, pipes, post tension cables, electrical conduits and voids. The advantages of (Ground Penetrating Radar) GPR over concrete X-ray technology are numerous as illustrated in the table shown. Detailed engineer reports with post processed GPR data and images are provided within 72 hours after data acquisition at the job site.

Tri-state Concrete Scanning (TCS) was founded in early 2008 and our primary goal was to offer concrete scanning using ground penetrating radar (GPR). Over the past four years, we have evolved as a company that does so much more. We now do utility location for both commercial and residential clients and we even do core-drilling and concrete cutting subsequent to the concrete scanning. Our clientele has grown from general contractors and homeowners to government agencies, hospitals, universities, surveyors, engineers, environmentalists and excavators.

GPR technology also provides 2 dimensional and 3D subsurface reflections which are used to determine the condition and thickness of the material examined. Our professional technicians use detailed mapping diagrams to provide reliable real-time data for clients who need to evaluate, cut out or core drill through concrete structures.

Core drilling is the process of drilling of circular holes in reinforced concrete, precast concrete, CMU, asphalt, brick and other structural materials. These holes are usually used for electrical, mechanical, plumbing, sewer and sprinkler installations. At Tri-state Concrete Scanning, we use core bits made from diamond segments that are mounted on a rotating shaft powered by a rig mounted drilling machine or a hand held drill. Our core bits can be drilled at any angle and great depths can be achieved.
