Set In Stone is a bespoke fabrication + design studio located in beautiful Chattanooga TN. We harness the inherent good of concrete, wood, and steel for our clients in commercial and residential spaces. Modern concrete isn't what it used to be. It can be cast thinner while being stronger, it is much more flexible and lighter than ever before. Concrete, wood, and steel are all beautiful materials in their own right, but become more than the sum of their parts when artfully brought together and provide excellent solutions for a variety of needs.
First and foremost we are a custom fabrication shop. We love our work and we love working with incredibly creative people. But there are those times we have our own itch to scratch; ideas that need to be developed and brought into being. This is what SIS Studios is. This is where select designs are brought into the world and offered to you. Through SIS Studios we are able to offer you high quality, handcrafted home goods that are produced in short runs by us. For this client we were asked to recreate a 250 year old mantle piece from Italy with integrated wood storage. The original was made of stone, so we went through an extensive process of developing a concrete mix that looked like the original. This was a challenging project, but in the end we were all quite pleased with the outcome. This is a large counter top that doubles as an outdoor bar with roll-up garage doors. The client wanted and integrated drain board and undermount sink that mimicked the flow of sediment and water.
We take our opportunities to work with architects and designers very seriously. We understand the time, effort, and dedication it takes to bring a design to fruition; to bring all the moving parts together for a vision to be realized. We are creative, have good ideas and are eager to work with other creatives. But we also know when to shut up and just meet spec. If you want our contribution we are happy to oblige, but if you don't, know that your ideas and specifications will be respected and met on time.
