Established by Richard R. Whitney in 1966, Whitney & Associates, now IMEG specializes in Geotechnical Engineering and Construction Materials Testing on projects located throughout the State of Illinois, as well as neighboring states. Our project experience includes schools, multi-story office buildings, shopping centers, commercial and industrial facilities as well as communications towers, grain storage facilities, bridges, dams, roadway investigations and other specialized projects. Whitney & Associates, now IMEG is retained by local, regional and national engineers and architects; contractors; developers; and local or state government agencies.
Beginning in 1966, Richard R. Whitney opened the doors of Whitney & Associates, now IMEG with two full-time employees operating from a leased a one-room office / laboratory located on Sheridan Road in Peoria, Illinois with a primary purpose of practicing both Civil and Geotechnical Engineering. Whitney & Associates, now IMEG incorporated in 1971 and moved its office and materials testing laboratory to its current address on West Nebraska Avenue. Through the effort, initiative, cooperation, and good will of our well-experienced, professional staff Whitney & Associates has served clients in the Central Illinois area for over 50 years.
As an integral phase of any construction project, a geotechnical investigation must be conducted to evaluate the existing site conditions as they relate to the proposed design and construction requirements. Our geotechnical investigations typically consist of review of the civil plans and structural considerations after which a site investigation plan is developed and implemented to evaluate the subsurface soil and groundwater conditions under the direct supervision of our geotechnical engineer.
