Brown Bear is available for all your structural concrete needs. We have a large, experienced crew of concrete finishers capable of large or small concrete projects. Our company offers stem wall foundations, monolithic slabs, piers, columns, sidewalks, curbs, and retaining walls. Concrete is made up of three basic components: water, aggregate (rock, sand, or gravel) and Portland cement. Cement, usually in powder form, acts as a binding agent when mixed with water and aggregates. Admixtures are additions to a concrete mix that can help control the set time and other aspects of fresh concrete.

Brown Bear specializes in building custom real wood burning fireplaces in a variety of styles including, Rumford fireplaces. Our experienced masons build fireplaces from the ground up ensuring the fireplace has a solid concrete foundation that will last. Brown Bear offers fireplaces with stone or brick veneer around an insert. We work with licensed gas and wood fireplace insert craftsman to create functional, beautiful, efficient fireplaces for our customers. Traditional fireplaces are custom built by a mason at the time the home is constructed, but can also be added to an existing home.

Brown Bear specializes in decorative concrete and is proud to offer many of the newest concrete technologies available. We attend trade shows, train and keep up to date with the current decorative trends in concrete. Our large crew of talented concrete finishers are professional and knowledgeable. Concrete can be colored and finished to replicate the texture and color of real stone, brick, and even wood. Decorative concrete adds beauty, durability and value to your home and landscape. Proper sealing of your decorative concrete will ensure it's longevity.

Real stone requires a real mason with years of experience to create a nice, clean stone job. Brown Bear has both, our team of experienced masons can lay any type of natural stone in any application. We specialize in creative real stone projects and can incorporate multiple types of stone, seashells or brick in the design. Let Brown Bear know what kind of real stone project you are dreaming of and we will do our best to complete your vision. Real stone is more costly, but if your after uniqueness, character, strength, low maintenance and beauty real stone is definitely the way to go.

Got dirt? Brown Bear can retain it. We offer complete retaining wall systems including concrete footings, wall structure, reinforcing steel, water-proofing, backfill and decorative facing. Owner, Jim Brown works with customers and engineers to create long lasting, structural retaining walls. Retaining walls provide lateral support to vertical slopes of soil. They retain soil which would otherwise collapse into a more natural shape. The most important consideration in proper design and installation of retaining walls is to recognize and counteract the tendency of the retained material to move downslope due to gravity.

Brown Bear loves to lay real stone veneer. Using real stone veneer over natural stone saves time, materials and money while still producing a natural stone job. We have years of experience with stone veneer, excellent communication and always strive to achieve the desired outcome our customer is after. For all your stone veneer needs, Brown Bear is happy to help with the design process and give an estimate. The best of both worlds is found with real stone thin veneer. Real stone veneer is beautiful stone cut in half with a flat surface on the back side allowing for much less structural preparation than full size real stone.
