Calyx Builds is comprised of 3 business entities: Calyx Homes, Calyx Retrofit, and Custom Glass Works. Calyx Homes was founded in 1997 by Bob Brierley and his wife Joanne. Later, Calyx Retrofit and Custom Glass Works were added with his business partner George Constantinides.

The botanic definition of the word "calyx" [pronounced KAY-liks] describes the outer petals of a flower that support the developing bud. The calyx provides protection and support until the flower is ready to bloom, at which point it sheds away. We decided to use it for our company name because like a calyx, we're here to provide the same support during the scope of your home project. My wife Joanne and I founded Calyx Homes in 1997 and more recently we are known as Calyx Builds. We have been in the business of new home construction and remodeling for over 30 years.

Originally called "Custom Glass and Aluminum", we are now called "Custom Glass Works, LLC". With 30 years of experience Custom Glass Works, LLC also still retains the same employees & quality work, so you get high quality finished work. Custom Glass Works, LLC does both commercial and residential glass installation and fabrication. Our commercial side fabricates and installs for clients such as store fronts, banks, hospitals, municipalities, schools, and state buildings.

Calyx Retrofit was established in May of 2013. Started by Robert Brierley and George Constantinides. Calyx Retrofit is a full-service weatherization company based in RI. Calyx Retrofit provides insulation and weatherization services for all phases of construction, including new construction, remodeling, and retrofitting. Define insulation/insulate: The act of protecting an object by surrounding it with material that reduces or prevents the transmission of heat, sound, or electricity. From the Latin host word "insula" - to make into an island".
