Whitehead, President, has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and over 30 years of extensive experience in commercial and residential construction. He is a member of the Timber Framers Guild. Mink Hill Timber Frames is a member of the Timber Frame Business Council, the New Hampshire Preservation Alliance and the North East Sustainable Energy Association. Mink Hill Timber Frames is a full service construction company specializing in building timber frame homes, barns, libraries, churches and other public buildings. We restore existing timber frame homes and barns as well as convert antique timber frame barns into homes. We are a custom timber framing shop, offering architectural, engineering design and construction services. We do not offer stock plans since our designs are individualized by the client's preferences. When the client's project is located near our shop, we prefer to follow the project from design through finish, acting as the designer, builder and general contractor.

We consider the process of designing and building a client's home to be a special collaboration between the Client, Architect and Ourselves. All three parties, by necessity, should be deeply invested in the project and in the concept of quality, sustainability, energy efficiency and most of all in designing and building an inspiring and comforting home. Mink Hill Timber Frame Homes prides itself in the honoring the traditional role of the Master Builder.
Mink Hill Timber Frames has designed and built many commercial and public projects. When the design of the heavy framing of timbers requires the use of steel rods and plates to resist the tension loads we always conceal the steel rods and plates so that the beauty of the wood can be celebrated. Often times, we can demonstrate to the Project Engineer, with our own Engineer's calculations, that a traditional large wood thru tenon can meet the design requirements for the tension loads. Another option that we often pursue, is we can revise the Project Architect / Engineer's design to minimize the tension loads, adding some "wow factor" to the heavy timber framing without increasing the cost.
