Tamarack Log and Timber Homes is proud to be part of the tradition of Handcrafting Log Homes dating back 1500 years in Northern European Countries and Russia. We are master builders of Handcrafted Log Homes with 31 years of experience in designing and building log and timber structures. Our log structures have ranged in size from 500 square feet to 12,000 square feet being built in some very difficult building locations throughout North America. We have built our log and timber homes on top of mountains and one large home on an island in the Atlantic Ocean.
A - We have been design / building custom Handcrafted Log & Timber Homes for 31 years. We prefer to work with you on the design as a custom log home is very personal purchase. Working closely with our clients, we can offer creative features not available from another company. Example: West Virginia is blessed with an abundance of hardwoods and softwoods and you may want a cherry or oak feature beam or a second floor timber system of ash incorporated in your design. We have worked with other architects and designers throughout the years and welcome this option as an alternative.
Tim Bullock Our Master Builder, has been designing and building Log and Timber Structures since 1980. This career choice happened in 1978 upon visiting a library and obtaining the book: Building with Logs by B. Allan Mackie. I absorbed every last word and felt a need for action. The only school for log building in the east, at the time, was Pat Wolfe School of Log Building. Eight glorious weeks of scribing, cutting and learning was fulfilling in and of itself. I was taught the gutter adze method of removal for the Scandinavian full scribe log construction method.
This method of building goes back centuries with many fine examples throughout the world. We honor these ancient traditions although we utilize longer material and larger diameters eliminating many of the vertical posts for more open spaces. Hand pegged joinery with many species available: oak, walnut, pine, hemlock, and cherry just to name a few.
This is a commissioned conference table for a local engineering firm 10' long out of 3" thick white pine with walnut butterflies for joinery. We stock large slabs of white pine for tables and benches and sometimes shelving. Photo's by Forced2Focus Studio.
