Flagstone offers the unique look only natural stone can offer. Flagstone is becoming an increasingly popular stone to use when landscaping the home. You can use Flagstone for walkways and patios giving your outdoor decor a charming look. Flagstone is also very durable as an installation and because it is formed in nature, and is very tough. However, being natural stones they are random in shape and coloring, and subject the laws of nature, such as chipping and even cracking, through time. Another natural phenomena is Flagstone bleaching, where the minerals, again through time, slowly bleach out to adjacent areas.

Another member of the Mexican Paver family is the Lincoln Paver. Just like the Saltillo Tile, Terracotta Tile, and the Tecate Tile, Lincoln Pavers are handmade in Mexico by using natural clay from the area. Like the Tecate Tile, they are more durable than the Saltillo Tile which makes them a better choice outdoors. The main difference here is the coloration. While the color is more consistent like the Tecate Tile, the Lincoln Pavers lean more towards a brownish orange. You can often see what appears to be gold flecks in the surface of these tiles as well.

If you are looking for a floor that has a bit of history behind it, Mexican Pavers and Saltillo Tiles are worth considering. These old-world tiles have traveled a long way indeed. Saltillo Tiles were introduced by the Spaniards to Mexico and are handmade by gifted artisans with primitive methods. They are named after the village of Saltillo in Mexico, where the Spaniards found the right kind of soil to manufacture these tiles. Saltillo Tiles have been appreciated for their rustic beauty and natural warmth.

Quarry tile is a building construction material made by the extrusion process from natural clay or shales. Traditional Quarry Tile was unglazed and either red or gray; however, modern "decorator" Quarry Tiles come in a variety of tints and finishes. Industrial Quarry Tile is available with abrasive frit embedded in the surface to provide a non-slip finish in wet areas such as commercial kitchens and laboratories. Quarry Tile is extensively used for floors where a very durable material is required.

Slate is a fine-grained, foliated metamorphic rock that is created by the alteration of shale or mudstone by low-grade regional metamorphism. Slate is very popular for a wide variety of uses such as roofing and flooring because of its durability and attractive appearance. Slate Tiles are often used for interior and exterior flooring, stairs, walkways and wall cladding. Specialized sealants are required on Slate Tiles to improve durability and appearance, increase stain resistance, reduce efflorescence, and increase or reduce surface smoothness of your Slate floors.

There's something very cozy about Brick floors. They infuse a home with a storied, old-world feel and emit a sense of comfort and nostalgia. Brick floors combine the durability of tile or stone with the warm colors of wood, and they can work with almost any home style. Yet for all those positive attributes, Brick floors remain a relative background player on the grand stage of floor coverings. Brick provides designers with a wide range of decorative choices and options. When used as a flooring surface, Brick faces particular challenges, which it handles with varying degrees of success.

Granite is a natural stone and has been used as a building material for many centuries. Granite is an igneous rock which means that it is formed by volcanic activity, which strength approaches that of diamonds. Granite is a truly an amazing material that can make your kitchen look amazing. With a Granite countertop, you will have something that no one else has. Yes, there are other Granite countertops but others will not have a Granite countertop that looks exactly like yours. Although Granite is nearly as hard as diamonds, it is still a porous material.

Concrete is a very versatile material. It can be used to make several flooring options including tile, pavers, and stamped or textured slabs. A decorative stamped concrete patio or driveway can give you the look and texture of stone for a lot less than the real thing. Molds are pressed into the concrete patio to create unique designs that can mimic brick, slate, cobblestone or other natural stone surfaces. Color hardeners and dry shakes are added to the mixture in order to obtain the desired coloring.
