I have been in the popcorn texture business for many years. I started spraying ceilings in the 1980's. Popcorn ceilings were very popular back then. So I know first hand about the underlying conditions when applying a popcorn texture and the dangers when removing it. Most ceilings that were sprayed with a texture only had two coats of joint compound not three, as is standard practice for smooth ceilings. Also, the angle tape on the ceiling side is never floated. That is why you need an experienced drywall contractor to handle the final skim coat, float the top angle in the corners, skim over all screws, and sand it all smooth with a dustless sander.

I moved to North Carolina in 1985 bringing my experience to the Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Apex, Chapel Hill area. We all stay up to date on all drywall and texture material by attending monthly USG and Goldbond seminars. Safety is also a top priority. We protect ourselves, as well as you, when ceiling texture comes back positive for asbestos. I have been married 33 years to Laura Faircloth with four kids and one grandbaby! I enjoy family time, going to church on Sunday, playing baseball with the 50+ Cubs baseball team, and I love the outdoors - fishing and hunting.
