Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS) offer continuous insulation by design, allowing architects the design flexibility and aesthetics they require, while helping to meet the new energy codes. EIFS are continuous insulation. According to the definitions of the International Building Code and ASTM International, an Exterior Insulation and Finish System (EIFS) is a nonload bearing, exterior wall cladding system that consists of an insulation board attached either adhesively or mechanically, or both, to the substrate; an integrally reinforced base coat; and a textured protective finish coat.

Sustainability and energy conservation are critical issues, and Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS) are proven solutions to today's design challenges. The mission of the EIFS Industry Members Association (EIMA) is the advancement and growth of EIFS in the United States. EIMA does this by promoting technical excellence through advocacy, industry standards, research, education and communication. The only national organization solely dedicated to the EIFS industry, EIMA strives to provide a seamless flow of information to all of its stakeholders: suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, contractors, architects and owners.

The EIFS Industry Members Association is a not-for-profit trade association committed to advancement and growth of the demand for EIFS by accomplishing objectives which either cannot be achieved by individual members, or those which are more efficiently carried out collectively. Specifically, EIMA supports the industry by developing consensus technical, training, installation, and design standards for use by architects, designers, code bodies and officials, and other technical associations, by monitoring and positively influencing government actions, by working to assure the long-term availability of qualified contractors, and by providing other member services as appropriate.
