Closed-cell and open-cell foam are two of the most common types, and understanding the differences can help you determine which will be a better fit for your project. Both are spray-in foam insulation options, but open-cell foam is made of cells that are left open, creating a more flexible, soft finished product that expands to about 3x it's sizes. Closed-cell foam insulation can be up to three times denser than open-cell foam, so it provides a higher R-value. The R-value of insulation refers to its resistance to heat flow, so a higher number indicates better insulation capabilities.

As not just a reseller but distributor for Earthcore Isokern fireplaces, we can tell you with certainty that if you want the top of the line masonry fireplace of your dreams, an Isokern one is just what you're looking for. Using patented volcanic pumice stone, the Isokern gives a substantially higher heat reflection than traditional masonry, giving you more heat into the room. If masonry flue is desired, the DM54 Isokern flue system is available. With this system, you maintain a zero clearance to combustibles resulting in an easier install than traditional masonry flu.

Our fireplace manager can help you understand all your options and suggest the best variety for your needs. Our certified technicians will ensure proper install, taking all safety precautions in mind to make sure that your dream fireplace is everything you've hoped for and more. You can also call or email us to set up an appointment to have our sales team walk you through our showroom in Mills River, and show you all we offer. Sometimes seeing things in person and having that one-on-one conversation with someone to discuss your ideas is just what you need to make the right decision for your investment.

One of the products we get asked about often here at Pisgah Insulation is cellulose insulation. If you have been wondering about this product to determine if it would be a good option for your home or business in the Carolinas, you should know there are many advantages involved. One of the most popular benefits of loose-fill cellulose insulation is that it has a similar R-value to materials that would be used in some areas. Another benefit of cellulose insulation is that it can conform around obstructions, and since most attic spaces have HVAC equipment and other obstacles, this can be a huge advantage.

When you think about insulation, your mind probably conjures up images of the material that comes on large rolls and is placed between the floors and walls of a building. This type of insulation is called batt insulation and is one of the most commonly used options in both residential and commercial structures. It's frequently used because it's economical, durable, and effective. At Pisgah Insulation & Fireplaces, we often use fiberglass batt insulation when performing insulation installation and replacement services.
