The first type of foam, known as half-pound, is a light foam suitable for most home insulation purposes. As it is applied to your attic or side walls, it expands by 100 times its volume to form a continuous insulating barrier. This open-cell insulation fills cracks, crevices and voids while remaining flexible. The R-value of spray foam insulation is 4.1 per inch. This insulation does not shrink, sag, settle or lose its R-value over time. Open-cell foam offers great sound attenuation characteristics to minimize airborne noise.
