If you're planning a remodel, demolition, or repair, Hawk's licensed asbestos inspection can satisfy legal and health requirements when potentially contaminated components (virtually all building materials other than wood, metal, or glass) are involved. We are proud to offer an unbiased, third-party perspective if you suspect mold presence in your home or business. Airborne mold spore and swab testing, bulk sampling, and more can confirm or rule out whether mold is the culprit of allergy symptoms or otherwise compromised air quality.

The experts at Hawk Environmental Services have many years of experience in the fields of hazardous materials, environmental testing, energy efficiency, and workplace safety. Founders Ben Tressel and Dan Ventura are both well-known in the industry for their expertise and practical experience in all aspects of indoor air quality and energy efficiently. Our Team provides the testing and inspection services necessary to meet state and local codes or to qualify for rebates, and will also design site-specific testing procedures to resolve any indoor environmental concern.

Many clients want to know exactly what types of mold they have growing in their buildings, and what types of spores that may be breathing in. We can offer a wide variety of sampling services that are analyzed by professional and impartial labs. We can perform these testing services in conjunction with a mold inspection, as a final clearance test or remediation verification, or to provide documentation needed for legal of insurance issues. Our inspectors will work to evaluate and visually inspect the affected area, sample and test for airborne mold spore levels and confirm or rule out fungal growth, as well as identify the source of problem and provide protocol for procedures to clear and restore the affected areas.

As we make our homes and offices more energy efficient we strive to limit the loss of warm air and the infiltration of cold air. The techniques used to create this energy efficiency are valuable in lower our heating bills, but if done incorrectly they may create indoor air quality concerns and uncomfortable spaces. A ventilation assessment performed by a qualified inspector can help you pinpoint the cause of some important indoor air quality issues and create a pan to properly ventilate the building.

Regardless of the age of the building, the law requires that a full survey for asbestos be performed prior to the commencement of demolition. This is typically referred to as an Asbestos Good Faith Survey, and must be performed by a certified AHERA building inspector. Hawk Environmental Services performs these surveys on a regular basis, and can provide the information and documentation that is needed to keep your project compliant and on schedule. For unoccupied single-family residential properties in the greater Seattle area, we will waive the site visit fee and charge only flat per-sample fees.

For homeowners and renters alike, no one likes finding mold in their home. While you can easily spot mold in the main areas of your house, many less obvious areas can also attract mold. Areas such as basements, crawl spaces, and cabinets that are less frequently used can attract mold that may grow unchecked for long periods of time. To help you avoid that, we've covered some common areas in your home in which you may find mold, how to prevent it, and what to do when you do find it. Why do attics attract mold?

Asbestos is a component of some building materials, and is known to be a hazardous carcinogen. Home owners, landlords, and contractors must perform testing or site surveys prior to disturbing or demolishing building any building materials that may contain asbestos. Although most people aware of the potential for asbestos content in popcorn ceiling, vinyl tiles, and pipe insulation; any building material that is not made of wood, metal, or glass may contain asbestos. An AHERA accredited inspector will help you to determine the appropriate sampling plan and protocol to ensure that you protect yourself from health impacts and liabilities, without wasting money on abating unnecessary materials.
